Ecogifts ensures that all packaging, reciepts, gift cards and tags are made from recycled or environmentally sustainable materials. This is a great start, but there are other ways that you can incorporate recycling into your everyday life.

Did you know?

Thousands of tonnes of waste are sent to landfill from public places in Australia every year even though around 60% of this is recyclable. Yet when more than 2,000 people were surveyed at special events and public places in WA, 89% said recycling at events was 'a very important issue'.

 What can I do?

Whether attending or organising a family picnic or a major public event, you can have a big impact on waste and litter by using public place recycling.

Easy ways to make a difference:

  1. Make the extra effort to recycle your waste whenever you're out

  2. Carry extra bags when you go out, so if necessary you can take home what you can't recycle

  3. When packing to go out, minimise what you take with you – dispose of unnecessary packaging in your home recycling before you leave

  4. Planning a day out or event – contact the local council or venue manager to find out what recycling facilities are available

  5. If your preferred location doesn't have recycling facilities, and you can't provide them, ask the council or venue owner to make the site recycling-friendly

  6. When organising an event, make recycling an integral part of the set-up and actively promote its availability. Use signs and announcements, and include information on an invitation, program or ticket

  7. If you're responsible for public place recycling, check to see if bins are in the places where they're most needed and make sure the signs are clearly visible and recognisable
